Meet Margaret Z. Summitt, MD

Education

Dr. Margaret Z. Summitt received her undergraduate degree from Bloomsburg State University in Bloomsburg, PA, and her medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in June 1986.

She went on to receive her Master of Science Degree in Human Genetics from Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville, NY. She has a wealth of clinical research and teaching experience in the area of human genetics. Her postgraduate training includes residency training in general surgery at the University of California, Irvine and the University of Tennessee, Memphis.

Dr. Summitt completed her ob/gyn residency at the University of Tennessee, Memphis in June 1994. She became board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology in 1997 and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Experience

Since completing her training, Dr. Summitt has built a well-established practice covering the entire range of obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Summitt is currently an instructor at the University of Tennessee.

Involvement

Dr. Summitt is a physician, mother, wife, and educator. She is also actively involved in the community and is a member of The Junior League of Memphis, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Volunteer Services, and St. Mary's Episcopal School Parents Association.

She is committed to serving her patients as individuals and addressing their unique healthcare needs. Dr. Summitt has an interest in adolescent gynecology and first time GYN or PAP exams.
