Yvonne Moore, MD, MA, FACOG

Education

Dr. Yvonne Frank Moore is a native Memphian and a board-certified OB/GYN who has been in private practice in Memphis since 1984. She holds a BA in biology and psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. Her medical degree was earned at St. Louis University while her residency was performed here at the University of Tennessee. In 2007 she earned a Master’s degree in Human Relations (counseling) from Liberty University.

Dr. Moore has held numerous board of director positions, both locally and nationally, over the years including:

  • Life Choices Pregnancy Help Clinic
  • March of Dimes
  • Postpartum Support International

Dr. Moore is a previous recipient of the Physician Champion Award given by the staff and administration at Baptist Women's Hospital for “Excellence and Cooperation in Patient Care.”
She was also recognized in 2017 by the local chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women for “Outstanding Service in the Field of Healthcare In the Memphis Community.”

Dr. Moore is a member of the Menopause Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health of women during the menopause transition and beyond. Dr. Moore writes a healthy living blog for her patients and community that can be found at ymoore4health.com. She is also the volunteer wellness coach for Dream Girls Healthier You, a support group of women from all over the country who simply want to be their healthiest selves. She has completed professional training in low carb nutrition from the Nutrition Network.

Personal Interests

She is the widow of the late Rev. James Lee Moore, Jr. and the mother to two adult children, Kyra and Justin Sims. She is an active member of True Light Baptist Church where she is a part of the social media team and the book club.

Dr. Moore is an avid sports fan and an enthusiastic interval runner who loves to travel. She is a perennial St. Jude Hero, running to raise funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She participates in Black Girls Run and Black Girls Rock the 50 States. In late 2021 she completed the challenge of finishing at least one half marathon in each of the 50 states, DC, and Puerto Rico.

In 2024, Dr. Moore fulfilled a life long dream of publishing her first book, Giving Birth to Hope, a 31 Day Devotional. She is using the proceeds from the sales of the book to achieve her fundraising goals as a St. Jude Platinum Hero.

Since retiring from delivering babies, Dr. Moore’s practice now focuses on gynecology and helping her patients to live healthier lives as they age through education and through positive lifestyle and behavioral changes.
